Are you a friend of flower? There are different types of people - some who love flowers, others who don't. Honestly, most people do not want to admit that they do not love flowers. But some don't. It's like some people having blond hair, others brown, others black. Its just happening - but rarely realized. {{2009_05_13.jpg }} I must admit that I have not been a particular lover of flowers. Yes, flowers are nice, but that was it - from my perspective - until recently. Yes, you can consider me a real barbarian, I am some sort of, definitely. I just never had a real sense for flowers. But for some time now, things are changing. I have been travelling from the UK to Germany this spring. In England nature develops earlier than in the eastern part of the continent. When trees are green already and spring flowers are booming in the UK, when everything is still rather sparse close to the Polish border. In eastern Germany trees are carefully checking the cold air, before they decide to blossom! Things start weeks later. However, then I went to the northern part of Japan! And here winter is still in control. Trees are just starting to show a sense of green - in the middle of May. Looking through the botanical gardens in Hokkaido I have been admiring the easter flowers this weekend. Yes, its fantastic - I am really touched. Flowers are a symbol for me of men and women. They are so beautiful, so carefully designed, so artistic, colorful, different, inspiring. Jesus said that God made the flowers beautiful though they are not of deep value - how much more does he care about us humans. Every time I see a flower I am thinking about the people around me. Every time I see the multitude of colors of flower beds I am reminded of the multitude of our characters, of our skills, of our focus and emphasis. Its good to be so diverse! We often want to equalize all our rich gifts into a uniform streamline shape. But God has given us a whole universe of characters to be a blessing for each other. Do we realize it? Are we ready to be there for the others, to provide our contributions and receive those of many others? Are you ready to serve the Lord?
