What is your view of society, of the immediate environment you live in? Our ideas about what society is can be influenced strongly by our environment and personal history. It is a big difference if we live in a developing country or if we live in central Europe. It is a big difference living in the city center of London or living somewhere on the countryside in Canada, or in one of the big cities of India. Our idea about what is important, what is needed, what the immediate problems are, can be completely different. {{2009_05_14.jpg }} It was always clear to me that there are big differences in this world between the different towns and countries. But I never knew how different the worlds are within one world, how big the differences are within one town, within one road sometimes. These differences are not just differences of the amount of monthly income which is available to a single person or to a family. But there are so deep differences in life options, in the possibilities which open up, in the events which happen and the conclusions which people draw from these events. Life seems like various layers of reality, but not in a well-ordered way of top and bottom only, but with uncountable fractures, like in the archaeological sites when you grab into mountains, layers and individuals jumbled by the big force of fate, which seems to be moving people around with ungovernable power. Sometimes our world of reason, the world we can control, the world where things have its place and where we can work our way to some kind of lucky living dissolves into a big mess. Days of fate, days of chaos, days of loss and turmoil destroy our well-ordered world view. However: there is a voice in the middel of chaos, of fate and destiny. We are not alone in the hands of uncontrolable powers. We are not determined by the winds of luck and disaster. God is there - the key message of the bible, the key message of Jesus. Believe in God and believe in me! Why do you have so little faith? It is nearly unbelievable when we meet God in the middle of chaos, when we realize the only completely trustworthy force in the universe exactly when all other reliabilities dissolve. But he is there, there is a hope beyond hope, order beyond chaos, life beyond death!
