(1) I am a discoverer ...====== Tuesday, June 2, 2009. Have you ever asked yourself: who is God? I mean has you asked this question with the goal to find out who might be the God and creator of the universe? I am a scientist, a researcher, someone who loves the adventure of the mind as well as the adventure of physical exploration. I am curious about our world, in fact this curiosity is one of my driving forces. I love much more to learn something new than to work out something I basically know. I have the nature of a discoverer. While others build the town, the discoverer will move on. While some create a home here, the discoverer will establish a new town somewhere uphill in the mountains, somewhere in a new place at the sea or in the middle of the desert. Today discoverers do not have to move physically - there are many things to explore, most knowledge is still unknown! {{2009_06_02.jpg }} Can we go and discover who God is? When I was a teen, I went into philosophical books and tried to find God there. I suspected that the wisdom of the philosophers will tell me more about life and about the world. I found a lot of intersting things, but I did not find God there. And I did not learn much about God - perhaps only that one cannot know much. We can try to find God in many places. There are various religions, and an abundance of temples and holy books in this world. As a discoverer I had a look into many of them, finding interesting experiences and interacting with strong spiritual traditions. What type of God do we get to know when we read one of these holy books, the Upanishads, Confucianism, the Qur'an, Shinto books and practice? There are strong "Gods" which express their view in these books. When I did my studies I discovered Jesus and the bible. This guy was fascinating, and he had to say much about God. The real breakthrough came, though, when I realized that you can meet God in and through Jesus. God wants to come into a relationship with us. It is not only that we try to discover God, but that God tries to find us as well. We are quite busy with our life usually. So let us take some time out and become discoverers and start to explore who God is or might be! That's what I want to do with you over the next days and weeks.
