Where do I go with my emotions. When I am challenged, when life does not work as I would like it to work, what do I do? How do I process the emotions, the difficulties? This morning I wanted to go into the shower, but there was no water. I looked at my mobile phone, but it did not get a connection to any network. Suddenly, nothing worked when I wanted to start a busy and full day. Should I be upset? My emotions can go very high if things do not work out properly. {{2010_07_14.jpg }} **God the comforter** God can and will give comfort and guidance to us in challenges. That is one of several important features of a life which is oriented towards the Lord. Jesus calls the holy spirit the great comforter. In the bible, the holy spirit is considered as "God with us". He is God himself, who is "God in father, son and holy spirit". The holy spirit plays an important role both in the Old Testament and in the New Testament. God's interaction with people is often carried out by his spirit coming to someone. It is exciting to hear that Jesus calls the spirit the comforter. On what level is he talking? Often we think that God is responsible for ethics and for judgment. We put God into the sphere of the stars and the universe. Do we consider him to be our first address for our emotions, for our joy and our weeping, for our fury and our desires? {{ 2010_07_14_2.jpg}} **Comfort and Guidance** It is a kind of guidance when God is giving us comfort. When a child comes to us with some disappointment, we take it into our arms, we talk to our child and after some minutes or even after seconds the distress is gone. Children can be very quick to comfort, sometimes. Then, they turn around and continue what ever they tried to do ...! God's comfort is a point of orientation and guidance for us. It may not be the other people who are responsible for some of our bad moods or some of our challenges. Often we need a fresh view, and suddenly our environment changes as well. We need God's view into our life and our environment, and everything is different. He has different possibilities. What seems impossible for us is possible for him. It seems to me that God interrupted my shower this morning. I think he wanted me to stop for a moment and realize: be less busy today. You will manage your things, but take time out as well to come to me and to see that I am the Lord. Let go, things will work out fine even if you are not connected to your phone for a moment.
