It is one of the old questions of mankind: is there a God? Where do I find this God? What can I say about him, about the character of God, about God's goals, his thoughts, his actions? Advent addresses this old question of mankind in a special way! {{2010_12_10.jpg }} **God comes to us ...** Advent states that God comes to us. It is not us, who need to find God. We do not need to go and bridge the gap between God and men. The bible even claims that we would never be able to bridge this gap. God is holy, that means "different", it means that he is different from what we are, in many ways. God comes to us on several layers. First of all: in the Christmas story God comes as a little child. We have talked about this. He comes and lives with us. He learns about our human perspective. He now knows this perspective not only from his godly insight, which can see everything that is, but also as a limited human being, living on the planet. But second, God comes and bridges the gap by making humans holy. The story of Jesus does not end with the child, the childhood is just the start of a deep and important process. Jesus lives, he talks about his father, he dies at the cross of Calvary and then he is risen, the first of a new creation. {{ 2010_12_10_2.jpg}} **Get to know God ...** We can get to know God. We just have to meet Jesus. That is one of the key parts of the gospel, a key part of the biblical message. And it is important to meet Jesus. He shows us, how God is. He shows us, how God thinks and acts. In him we can meet the father. How could we believe (which means trust, dedicate ourselves), if we do not know God. We need to know about him, we need to know him! Then we can make a sound decision. When we want to live a life in faith, we need the knowledge about who and what God is. We need to meet Jesus. When we read the New Testament, the different books talk about Jesus. They report parts of his life. They have recorded his words - which can have a huge impact on your life when you start to listen and to do. For today, we just sum up: Where to find God? We need to meet Jesus!
