We have talked about the old Christmas story yesterday, and that new insight is possible. One key new insight which is important for us is to take part in the Christmas story! What does it mean? {{2010_12_23.jpg }} **Taking part in the Christmas story ...** Of course, we cannot go back in time and become one of the shepherds, to take part in this story. We cannot become one of the wise men, who came to worship the little baby, the new king. We cannot become one of the fellow men, who lived with Jesus. This type of participation is not possible. But there is another type of participation, which is very important. God comes into the world. But his coming has a purpose. He wants to come into our life. He wants to come to us, even today. The coming of Jesus as a human ist just the beginning. It is not the end. It is a starting point ...! When I start to realize, that God comes to me, then Christmas really starts for me. Before that, it has been merely a story. Before that, the events have been abstract. But when God comes into my own life, then Christmas has reached me in a different way! {{ 2010_12_23_2.jpg}} **New insight by God in my life ...** There will be new insight into life when God comes into my life. The eternal God is the God of wisdom, of understanding, of truth and of mercy. I will start to look into the world with different eyes. New eyes! That means: new insight! New understanding. Deeper views! God is a God of mercy. The new insight which Christians gain, is not a cold analytic view. Yes, it can be analytic, in the sense that there is understanding of the true processes, of motives, of reality. But rather than analytic it is characterized by mercy. Truth and mercy! Changing habits usually does not happen immmediately. New insight comes step by step. Often, we need to search and to ask and to discuss. But when Christmas has reached our heart and lives there permanently, then we have started a journey which brings deep insight into what life can mean for all of us, a fantastic journey ...
