Have you ever asked yourself, whether your prayer is able to change things in a 10 Meter range around you? What is the role of prayer for that range? What is its role for the other 10.000 meters beyond your immediate environment? {{2011_01_19.jpg }} **What is happening? ...** Before we go into some deeper discussion, we need to determine the role of prayer we are talking about. I am currently thinking about prayer for people. I can pray for the person who is sitting next to me. I can pray for the people in the room. It might be my colleagues. Ore there are co-workers, people who participate in the same workshop, or the people in my unit. Also, we need to determine what type of prayer we speak about. I am thinking about asking God for his help, for his blessing, for coming with his spirit. I am thinking about a prayer like: God, come into the life of this person with all the grace and goodness you have. Help him or her to sort out the problems, to get into sustainable and good relationships with the other people, to find reasonable work, to do good decisions. What will happen if you ask this from the Lord? What will happen if you continuously ask good things for all people in your immediate neighborhood from the eternal creator? What if you do it for all people who at least occasionally come into your environment, even if they are not there right now? {{ 2011_01_19_2.jpg}} **God's possibilities 0 - 10m circle ...** You might say: what you can expect is a matter of faith. In some sense you are right: without faith you cannot expect much. But facts will not completely depend on faith. Just God's reaction to your prayer might depend on faith. But if he acts, then for all other people they will just experience the facts. The bible confirms God's unlimited possibilities many times. But that also means: he is not bound to answering exactly the way we expect. He has a wider view. He might want to reach the same goal and he has heard our prayer very well. But he wants to reach it in a different way! I am convinced that a prayer for the people around me will have a significant and lasting effect on their life and on my life as well. It will change our relationships. And it will change the facts! The Holy Spirit is a great thing, if he really comes to us, that has a deep effect on all we are and have. There is nothing better in this world than to pray, in particular for those people who come close to us, occasionally or day by day.
