How was your Easter holiday. Some people are still away. Form me holiday is over now. We had a fantastic time for some days in London - just me and my wife without the kids. {{2011_04_26.jpg }} **Fantastic treasure ...** For three days we could leave our kids with friends and went to London to visit museums, go shopping and just have free time in an inspiring environment. We went a week before the royal wedding ... with slightly less hassle and less people, it was still quite busy. But the weather was extremely pleasant, and we spend time in some restaurants on the South Bank, wanking along the river Thames, shopping in Oxford Road and with a dinner at around the corner from Soho Square. There are fantastic treasures to see in the many museums of London. We looked at the National Portrait Gallery, spent many hours in the the Science Museum and on the final day went to Tate Modern, with contemporary art and several special exhibitions. It was really an inspiring time ... thanks to our friends in Reading, who took care of the kids! With many impressions still active in mind I have been preparing some sermon today for the next Sunday. It will be about coming to faith by meeting Jesus. It will also be about treasure, about who he is and how much he is worth! It was really interesting to compare all the valuable things and insights we have seen over the past days with the value and insight, which Jesus is and gives ... {{ 2011_04_26_2.jpg}} **The parable of the treasure in the field ...** You probably know the parable of the treasure in the field (Matthew 13): 44“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field. 45“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. 46When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it. This treasure is Jesus, the faith in him, the life with him, all that he is and gives. It is worth more than all the collected treasures in this world. There is just no comparison possible ... I believe that it is worth to think a little more about this, to try to describe in more detail what the treasure of heaven is and why it is so valuable. A start of this is planned for tomorrow ...
