Some time ago a part of my shaver broke down. I did not want to buy a new one right away, so I used the rest of it in combination with an old one. But this morning also the old razor did not want to work any more. Tools are perishable! {{2011_06_07.jpg }} **Things break down at some point ...** It is a general experience, that many things in our world are perishable. Tools and toys break down at some point. Our car is made for some years, then the repairs take over. A house needs continuous mainenance to be fit for purpose. Otherwise it just breaks down at some point. Clothes are no longer wearable after some month or years of heavy use. We all know, that our life has an end after latest 80 to 100 years. Life is not endless, at least not the life we know in this world. Every animal and all humans have to die. Things are perishable. It seems, sometimes, that the perishability of the things around us points us to our own perishability. Our life as it is at the moment is not an eternal life. All our plans and our goals should take care and incorporate the knowledge of the end. It is a kind of wisdom, which is surrounding us, telling us of the end of things day by day. {{ 2011_06_07_2.jpg}} **God's relationship to perishability ...** The bible tells us that the perishability of this creation has been created by God himself. He did not want us to be eternal the way we are, currently. When humanity got separated from his truth, justice and love, he created death. It is a hot story, the creation of death. It is not the end, since eternal life is reinstalled, but through faith in Jesus Christ, through a return into truth, justice and love. But as long as we live in this world, God points us to our perishability. When he puts obstacles into our plans, that might just be his love, telling us that everything which we have will go. Only faith, love and hope will remain, when we move into his new creation, when we will be equipped with new things, filled with new life, and see him face to face. We need to work here, but we should do this wisely. We need to know, that everything here is a loan only, and we cannot keep it. But he will be with us until the end of time, the eternal saviour!
