Often our newspapers are full of "important" things. This morning it is again the financial market and the latest "ratings" of some large-scale US company on European states. This seems to be the most important thing in the world currently, at least for Europeans and the financial market, but beyond for everyone through world economy. But is that really true? {{2011_12_06.jpg }} **Large and Small Things ...** What are the important things in our life? What is important in my life. Yes, economy is important, since we all struggle when we cannot earn our living any more. But there are more important things. Of course, we all know that relationships are important. If we fail, someone else can help us. If we do not have enough or need help, a network of friends can hold us. If we cannot make it alone, together we are strong. But relationships are not only important since they can help our economic situation. We are beings which live in and with relationships. We need to be with others, we need their attention, we need to take care ourselves. Relationships are needed, we cannot live without them! {{ 2011_12_06_2.jpg}} **Important in His Eyes ...** When I think about "important things", Christmas always comes to my mind. But not the Christmas party itself, but what happened at Christmas. There is this little baby in which God starts his great salvation story. We think that the economy is important, but God thinks that the little baby is important, this infant which cannot take care of itself. We think that art and music and fame and money is important. But this baby did not have money or fame. It was just a baby, but yet already one which was well-known quickly: the savior is born. But God chose to be naked and without any possession. In his eyes it is important to be a human - and truly human. That is a human which is living in his presence, under his love and with trust in him.
