Sometimes, there are things in our life we need to let go. That might hurt a lot. That might be difficult for us. But it might be an important step towards a new future ... {{2011_12_19.jpg }} **Things To Let Go ...** When you were living somewhere, but now you have to leave town and friends, it might be time to let go. For me, that has never been easy. I rather would like to keep the link, to hold things. But it is not always possible. It seems to be a character feature, to keep hold of many things. There are those who easily let go. And there are others who have real difficulties doing so. Being there and taking care of things, not giving up easily, has always been an ideal for me. But when you keep hold of too many things, you cannot do them properly any more. It is like giving them up in an uncontrolled way, since you cannot manage things and you did not move them over to someone else when there was still time to manage them either. It seems there are days when it is time to let go. Suddenly, everything seems to focus on a decision (or a decision has already been made and is imposed upon you). Such days can be very emotional. Perhaps you do not want to let go, it seems a day of loss, a day when a lot of work you put in suddenly is taken away from you, without the proper return. It can be a sad day! {{ 2011_12_19_2.jpg}} **Old and New Life ...** It is interesting that letting go something old is an important topic of the New Testament. It talks about letting go the old life. Jesus came to bring a new life. With him, everything is different! Letting go is not easy. There are many things we love. There are many things we would like to keep. There is a real loss, also when we let go the old life in the New Testament sense. But there is a big gain as well. The new life Jesus talks about is eternal life, a treasure beyond imagination. We could think that it would be easy to let go, with such a treasure at hand. But it is not. The treasure can seem so far away, the old life so near. But it is an illusion. The treasure IS real, have a look at what Jesus says, how he acts ... and what life can be when we believe in him!
