How do you live? Does your life have a purpose? There are many different possibilities to approach life. To some extent, everyone wants a purpose for his or her life - that seems to be quite human. Even if our main goal is to have a lot of fun, most of us do not completely survive without some kind of purpose! {{2012_03_03.jpg }} **Fun is not enough ...** Fun is not enough! If you have the possibility to lead a life which is completely free, you have enough money, enough ressources ... what would you do? Most of us who get into something similar to this situation (perhaps in some 6 weeks holiday) quickly realize that fun and leisure alone does not hold for long. After some weeks we start to think about reasonable goals to reach. We think about some purpose we want to see in our activities. But there is also more to say. Power is not enough. Some people try to get into positions which give them power over other people. They like it to be powerfull, to be able to influence, to be the ones who have to be asked. But after a while, this becomes quite empty. Power alone is not enough to fill a life, you need a purpose! There is a similar thing with friendship. It is good to have friends, it is good to have a partner, it is good to have others around to play and spend time with them. Relationships can fill a life to a good part. But friendship alone is not enough in the long run. We need something else, we need what is called "a purpose" for our life. Otherweise relationships run empty, {{ 2012_03_03_2.jpg}} **God in your life** The biblical position is that you need God in your life to find a sustainable purpose. God is our key purpose, he is the beginning and the end. Every human needs to relate his or her life to the creator and centre of the universe ... this is a purpose which lasts and will lead to a sustainable framework which puts our individual goals into a bigger goals such that it all makes sense! What is the purpose God is giving to us? First of all, it is a purpose which is given by relationship, a relationship to him, who is not limited with his lifetime, his viewpoint and his goals. He is above creation, but also in creation. He is not limited in his love, his insight, his wisdom and his reason. He is. With him there is peace. The goal is reached. He rests in himself, as he always did. The power of life in the power of peace. But there is more. In his peace, there is face-to-face encounter, there is communication, there is community. He gives us a purpose, by taking us into his love, into his adventurous creation, into his saving mission. He takes us into his wisdom, invites us into his freedom, ... it is like a sunny new morning, like the warm air in a pleasant evening, like spring and summer and autumn and winter. Sustainable purpose is there where we meet him in faith and trust, and where we are welcomed as a part of his family and equipped with his purpose ... renewed every day!
