======Start to see his glory - The somewhat different Advent Calender II ...======
Sunday, Dec 2, 2012. Psalm 24 was written 3000 years ago, telling
what would come. It talked already about preparing for the Lord. In Luke 3
we hear that John, the Baptist, took old verses from the prophet Isaiah,
which also call us to prepare. This took place A.D.30, i.e. 2000 years
ago. And still today, we are called to prepare for the Lord. Let us
first read Luke 3:

**Prepare a way ...**
A voice of one calling in the desert,
‘Prepare the way for the Lord,
make straight paths for him.
5 Every valley shall be filled in,
every mountain and hill made low.
The crooked roads shall become straight,
the rough ways smooth.
6 And all mankind will see God’s salvation.
(Luke 3: 4-6)
Why are we called to prepare the way of the Lord? We need to
see the glory of him. We need to understand who he is. We need to
grasp his purity, his holiness, his character! In Jesus, God is coming
to us. His pure ways come into our environment, into our life! The
pure comes together with those who cannot be just. Do we see how wunderful
he is?
We might not be able to see it all in one step. It might take
us some time, even a life-time, to see more about the glory of the
Lord. But we can start to see it now. We can start to understand now!

**Let me start to see your glory ...**
The step number two of our somewhat different advent calendar is to ask
the Lord to provide us insight. Let us ask him now, to help us to understand
his glory, his purity, his mercy, his humility. Let us pray: Lord, show
me your heart. Show me your truth and your love. Let me grasp your glory,
the glory of the risen Christ Jesus.
The book of Revelation is talking about the glory of Jesus - with the
image of the lamb, which was slain. Let us finish for today by looking
into this text about true honor and glory:
Worthy is the Lamb who was slaughtered—
to receive power and riches
and wisdom and strength
and honor and glory and blessing.
(Revelation 5, 12)
Have a blessed and exciting first advent sunday!
