We are reading "Galatians" currently in our bible study group. It is a very exciting letter - and a lot to learn, even if you know this New Testament letter already for 20 or 30 years. Again, I made the experience that God's word will always give you new insight, every single time you read it carefully! {{2014_03_06.jpg }} **Heirs with Christ ...** People who believe in Christ Jesus are called "children of God" in this letter, have a look into the chapters 3 and 4. What does it mean, when you hear it the first time, it might sound a little odd. What makes you a "child of the God"? The apostle talks about our spirit. He talks about attitude. He talks about belief. As believers, we are filled with a spirit which makes kids of the most high. That is a story which has both puzzled and fascinated people from the very beginning. What does it mean to be heirs with Christ. There is a fantastic promise, of course, the promise of eternal life. Christ died, and rose again on the third day. He met his disciples. He lives. This nearly unbelievable statement has been a stumbling block to our reason for 2000 years now. And it is a promise to the believer that we will live with him. But there is much more here than this! {{ 2014_03_06_2.jpg}} **Spiritual Heritage ...** > There is a spiritual heritage, which we are given. It is the heritage of the Holy Spirit. It is his faithfulness, his love, his joy, his peace, his hope. We are called to live in it. We are called to become like him - in spirit! The heritage of Christ is first of all our life attitude, our purpose, the state of our existence. It is something which will change our whole life, every singe minute of it, when we take it serious. In all humility, we are called to find joy and peace in being sincere believers. We are called to let him change our mind, step by step, day by day, to learn that his love, his attention, his presence, his purpose is enough for us. Humans get their purpse and self-esteem from him, from God being there for them. Everything else is a mere distraction! It does not mean that we should stop what we do in this world. But it means that what we do should be transformed by his spirit into his humility. We are promised a fantastic heritage: the spirit of Christ in our mind, in our heart, in our life.
