======Call to faith! ...======
Tuesday, Aug 26, 2014. Believe! What type of call is this? We need to tell
you a little more about what we think you (and we) should believe! Faith is trust
in the Lord, it is trust in Christ Jesus, it is trust in the eternal God.

**Jesus ...**
From a Christian point of view: we need to put Jesus into the center of our
belief. He is someone you can truly trust. That is a statement, which you
can only discover yourself. You need to find out: I can trust in Jesus. You
need to find out yourself: he wants me! Without this, you will stay like
a remote visitor, someone who does not have a relationship.
The Christian message can be phrased like this: God sent his son Jesus, to show
to you and to me that he is truly trustworthy. You can trust him. He has his
ideas on how we should live, what we should be. But he also provides us with
the way to become what he is asking us to be. He dies at the cross, and askes us
to believe in him. His death clears the way. He gives up everything for those,
who believe.
Have a look into the bible, into the New Testament. Here, Jesus acts, and Jesus
talks. We can meet him, we can learn about him, we can listen to what happened,
to opinions of his disciples, to various events and statements! Have a look into
the New Testament!

**Christian Faith ...**
>
Christian faith is the faith which is described by the New Testament. All the
books and letters have one purpose: do guide people in faith. The scholars of
many generations have used these texts which were written by the early apostles,
by those who lived with Jesus and explored the initial stories of faith.
The New Testament is a very interesting type of literature. It is not a report.
It is not fiction. But it is some realistic type of text with many elements which
are not found in other types of literature. The parables which Jesus told are
unparalleled in world history. All these pointed remarks, all these very deep
phrases, which have been taken up by rulers, artists and many ordinary people
year for year, day for day.
I was in some exhibition last Friday, in Montreal, Canada. It was a worldly topic,
but some citations of the Gospel of John caught my attention immediately. The
biblical words were so much deeper than the rest of the exhibition - it was just
breathtaking! I realized again: God's word as written in the bible has a depth
and meaning which you can hardly find in the millions of books written over the
past 500 years. The call to faith has a sound basis: read the New Testament!
