======What is possible for God? ...======
Friday, Dec 19, 2014. What is it that is possible for God? What do we know about
him, and about the spiritual world. What is its relationship to the physical
world? What is our image of all, that is?

**Christmas Story ...**
The Christmas Story will be told next week, it will be told everywhere on the planet.
Some of its versions will be full of nice images - the kid in the creche, some
animals around. Angels singing and speaking.
Other versions will be more intellectual. God coming close to us.
I have been looking into this Christmas story as it is told by the evangelist
Luke (Luke chapter 2). It is very interesting to read - Luke was a medical doctor,
who collected much of the material of the New Testament. He talks about this event,
and he also mentions the angels, who were there with the shepherds. And he linkes
all the events to what was written in the old scriptures, texts which were already
hundreds of years old when Jesus was born.
It could be that you love the story of the angels, the story of the star, the story
of the dreams and far reaching meaning of this event. Some of us stumble over
such things - they have difficulties to link it to their reality. But what is
it that is wonderous here? What is it that is possible for God?

**The Word became Flesh ...**
>
What is more wondrous in the Christmas story: the words about angels? Or the word
that here in this kid God himself became human? In the gospel of John, chapter 1,
the story is told in a more spiritual version: "The word became flesh". This word,
which was at the beginning of creation, is God himself, was with God and was God -
John is describing what we call trinity today, the unity of God in father, son and
holy spirit. What is more wondrous? The trinity itself? This big mystery?
The Christmas story takes us into a world which is filled with God's possibilities.
It takes us into a world, which is going far beyond our "science only" world. With
a reductionist viewpoint we will not be able to follow. But when we open our ears,
our eyes and our heart, we start to see and to discover God's world, God's possibilities,
and God's love!
God invites us to come to him. God wants us to start to trust him - and to discover
his possibilities, his strength, but also his very concrete way and his love to us.
God takes us serious, our body, our immediate environment, our fears, our hopes,
our desires and our longing for peace and future. All this is confirmed and
put alife in the events of Christmas, in Jesus himself. I love this story, with its
strange features, with the choir of angels singing. I think it is more real than
we are willing to admit!
God is and remains God, the God to whom nothing is impossible!
