======What is in our Mind and Heart ...======
Friday, Feb 27, 2015. What is filling your life, your thoughts, your heart
and your mind? Most of us have their particular topics, which we follow and
which come back to us again and again. What is your particular topic?

**Duty, Music, Game, Science, Kids? ...**
What is the theme of your life? What is it that comes back to you again and
again? What is filling your brain, your feelings, your heart? For some of
us it is games. My 12-year old son,
for example, he could spend day by day in front of
a computer with games. The games are much more important to him than many
other things.
Other people are all focussed around kids. Perhaps that is you: taking care of
kids. Caring for them. Being there for them. Many mothers are taking care of
their kids with their mind being quite focussed on them. And it is fantastic
to be fully there to take care of kids. It can be joy and fulfilment.
When kids are small, they need full
care. Then, step by step, they become more independent, but for many years they
are depending on someone to be there for them, day by day.
Some of us are more focussed on music or art. Music is fantastic, and it can fill
our heart and our mind. Also art, paintings, sculptures, constructions, creativity
can be a guiding thought and theme of our life. Creativity can be a strong
drug, an attractive force, a determining mode of life. The same is true for
science, or for business, or for construction, or for engineering. Basically
everything we do with effort and dedication can be the guiding mode or leading
mode of our heart.

**Where my heart is ...**
Jesus is touching this question of what is in our heart and our mind in his
famous speech on the mount:
19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
(Matthew 6, 19-21)
He does not mean we should not care about things, about people, about kids,
about music or science or engineering or business. We are asked to love each
other, in particular kids and everyone who is weak and cannot help himself alone.
We are asked to do our work with dedication. But we are also asked not to loose
ourselves to our work or to any human. Only God can be the center of our life,
only he can keep us healthy and on a balanced track.
When we are in danger to be drawn into some particular activity, it is good
to go back to the Lord and learn from him. With him, we can discover grace and
love and peace and rest. With him and in him
we can find back to the center of life - and
from there go back and do our work in truth and love, as he asks us to do.
