======Greece - A great country, great people! ...======
Monday, March 16, 2015. I have been in Athens and other parts of Greece
many times now. I have been working with colleagues there, have attended
conferences and workshops. I love the country, and I love the people.

**Bad words or good words? ...**
Currently, the political discussion about Greece in Europe is in a
strong uproar. You have a new left government, which does not want to continue
the financial course of its predecessors. And indeed, things cannot just continue
as they have been done in the past years. The difficulty: how to transform
a state which currently cannot earn its expenses into one which can. This task
is one which is not limited to Greece, most states today run on a deficit,
and we all have the need to transform our financial and economic systems.
The public discussion about all this is far from being nice. Many nasty words
are written and said on all sides. Reading some Greek newspapers is not a
pleasure when it comes to the relationship between some nations and between states.
And likewise in Germany,
there are some who try to destroy our relationship to the Greek
people. I am disgusted by some of the things which are written and imparted.
Let us not follow the bad words, but find to good and helpful words!
In any case, I have to say that the Greek people are great people. I know enough
very intelligent and competent colleagues - in Greece and in many other locations
throughout Europe. For this year I have accepted a distinguished Lectureship
by FORTH, the Foundation for Research and Technology - Hellas. I am looking
forward very much to be back in Greece, to work with colleagues and students.

**A Christian Approach ...**
As Christians, we are to use words of wisdom and peace. In Ephesians, Paul writes
to us:
1 I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, 2 with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, 3 eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
(Eph. 4, 1-3)
Let us be what we are - people who fully appreciate the others, in particular when
they are in sincere difficulties. Of course we talk about problems and how they
could be solved. It is good to support the others and help them with patience
and dedication. It is clear that transformation is needed for Greece as for all
other countries, progress on both the economic and social level.
I am really looking forward to being back in Greece soon - in a country which
had a fantastic past, continues to be lovely and full of life,
and - I believe - will have a very successful future. Greece, I am with you!
