modern world. And indeed: it is crucial to be able to talk freely, to move
freely and to be able to follow your lifestyle and your principles - as long as
you do not hurt others. But often, our idea of freedom is not thought to the
end ...

**Freedom From and Freedom For ...**

We all know that there are countries today 
where there are strong limitations to the freedom of
speech or the freedom of women. There are dictatorships of different
kind. And there are repressive regimes of various shades and colors. Usually
they try to justify suppression by national good. 

But there is a deeper freedom. It is the freedom to act in the right way. There
is the freedom to say good words. There is the freedom from hatred and from 
vengeance. There is the freedom to make good choices and to stay with them
where it is good and hepful. There is the freedom to turn around where you 
are on a wrong path. There is the freedom to admit failures and mistakes. There
is the much deeper personal freedom, to be what you are. 

Jesus is talking about freedom: 

31 So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” 33 They answered him, “We are offspring of Abraham and have never been enslaved to anyone. How is it that you say, ‘You will become free’?” 34 Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who practices sin is a slave2 to sin. 35 The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. 36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. 
 (John 8, 31-36)

**Be the Loved one of the Lord ...**

The biggest freedom is to be with the Lord, with God, with the son Jesus, with
the holy spirit. He gives real freedom, true freedom, deep freedom. That is one
of the basic Christian teachings and basic insight into this world. We tend to
become dependent on things, on humans, on power, on fame, on money ... But we
can be free from all of this - and treat it with wisdom and balance. But we need
to find the eternal God for this. We need Jesus. 

One key point is our own personality, our individuality. One key point is you. 
God wants you to come to him, to live with him, and to learn that this is 
completely sufficient to be fully human. With him and in him you can be
the best of what you ever could be. With
him, you can be more than you could ever reach in this world. 
 
Free your mind - that mean: start to search him. Start to listen to him, to his
word. Free your mind and your heart, and open it for Jesus. Discipleship starts
where we begin to listen and to do. It is a fantastic adventure, and we can be
disciples of Jesus where ever we are, in the middle of our professions, of
our challenges, of our families and our pain. Yes, he sets us free! Come and see.
