======What to do? ...======
Monday, April 25, 2016. How to approach our day? What plans to make, what things
to target? What is guiding our thoughts and our mind? What is guiding our desires?
What is it we long for? What is your dream of yourself, of your friends, your
environment, your partnership, your family, your job?

**What and how? ...**
There are two layers of the question: first, what do we want? Second, how do we
want to get there? This how is not the path itself, but how we walk on it.
When you search for answers to our question in the biblical books, you end up with
the great commandments. They tell you to love God with all your heart, and to love
your neighbor as yourself. They do NOT tell you what particular things you should
do when you love. There is a lot of freedom in the what to target. There is a lot
of freedom in the choice of individual steps. But there is a clear commandment about
the how of your actions. It should be done out of love, and filled with love!
34 But when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together.
35 And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question to test him.
36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?”
37 And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.
38 This is the great and first commandment.
39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
40 On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”
(Matth. 22, 34ff)

**The Lord is my Shepherd ...**
We can ask the Lord to come to us and talk to us when we are unsure about how and
what we should accept as goals. We need his wisdom anyway - how could we do without
it? We need his insight and his perspective. We need him in everything!
Often we think we know what we want. We want to succeed here, we want to gain something
there. There are all the needs of our life. There is the pain of our life. There
are our desires, things we would like to have or reach. Yet, we need God as the
shepherd of our life. We need Jesus as the master and friend. We need the Holy
Spirit to fill our heart and our mind. Without them, we are blind and lost with our
desires!
Lord, please come into my life with your spirit. Please come and fill me today,
with your love, your truth, your humility and your patience. Please come and help me
with your power and perspective, which is full of love and endurance. Be my shepherd,
today and every minute of my life! Amen.
