What is humanity like? You see too much of trouble where ever you look. Deceit and killing and suppression and ignorance. And we cannot completely ignore that we are part of this human story as well. But humanity has always been more than just fight. When you look back, the element of mercy has always been there, the element of truth, of justice, of love and humility. {{2016_05_10.jpg }} **Made whole ...** Humanity is an invitation. We are all invited, all humans. As Christians we believe and experience that we need God to become truly human. We need Jesus, who is our example and our door towards full humanity. There are deep and important reasons, why this is needed, and why he is the salvation for all of us, every single one. As Christians, we do not have all the answers. But we have found something very special: Christ Jesus. And with him and in him we have found new life, new strength, new perspective, new truth and love! We have found a way to be renewed in all what we think and in all what we do. The apostle Paul describes this in his letter to the Ephesians, have a look: 17 Now this I say and testify in the Lord, that you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds. 18 They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart. 19 They have become callous and have given themselves up to sensuality, greedy to practice every kind of impurity. 20 But that is not the way you learned Christ!— 21 assuming that you have heard about him and were taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus, 22 to put off your old self,6 which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, 23 and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, 24 and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness. (Ephesians 4, 17-24) {{ 2016_05_10_2.jpg}} **With God in Christ Jesus ...** The key point is that to become fully human, we need God. He saves us from a life wasted in greed and ignorance. He saves us, by what he did in Jesus all is set already - for you and for me. And we are invited to enter. We are invited to come to him, to trust our life into his hands. This is done once for all, but then day by day, learning new life, which includes all we have, our freedom as well as our will, our needs, our fears and our desires. In his light, all is full of light. What is your struggle today? What is your fear? What is your pain? He wants to be there with us, and go through it. With him, things are changing. He promises us that we will find peace in our heart. And he tends to keep his promises. For me, these lines above are a challenge. They are the challenge to judge things in his light. They are the challenge to set my goals in line with his goals. To change my mind and my heart, learning from him, from Jesus. This is the challenge to make decisions which come from faith, not to be drawn back into a waste of life and effort, but to be drawn into his love, day by day, in all what I do.
