====== Pray in Secret ... ======
Wednesday, August 30, 2017. God is real. And we can talk to him. We can pray, tell him
our needs, our dreams, our wishes, our sorrows. God is there, he listens, he hears.

** God cares ...**
God wants us to talk to him. He wants a relationship. You might think, he knows everything
anyway. Yes, he does. But he wants ujs to involve him. He wants me to tell him, and then
start to discuss the issues of my life!
Jesus talks about prayer in his famous sermon on the mount. He talks about prayer
as a place between me and God alone. It is there to communicate, to talk and to listen.
Let us read from Matthew 6:
5 “And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. 6 But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
(from Matthew 6, 5-6)

** Reward ...**
God is called "our father". And Jesus talks about the reward of prayer. Our relationship to
God is not on an equal level. We are kids, he is the father. He is the eternal God. He is
good. He is all-knowing. He is all-powerful. He is the creator. We are humans. We are made
in his image - reflecting his majesty. But still: we are limited, we are creation, we are
dependent on him. He has life by himself, we are mortal beings.
Yet, in all of this, God wants to listen to us. He wants us to tell him. He wants us to
pray, to ask him. When we do not ask, we will not receive. But when we ask, he will give
us good things.
Prayer is an honour. We have an encounter with the boss of the universe. We can talk to
him privatly, without any other people around. We can tell him, and we can ask him. He has
promised wisdom to us. He has promised to hear, and to provide all we need. What a fantastic
situation we are in! You lucky guy ...
