======Everything Love? - A Critical View ...======
Monday, September 20, 2010. We talked about a new way of thinking
recently. We talked about loving those who cause pain. Perhaps you think
this is mad. Perhaps you think it is really difficult ... somehow fancy
stuff, but not realistic. We need some critical evaluation of these things!

**Sometimes it is difficult ...**
We wrote recently
"Jesus invites us into a new way of community. He wants our relationships to
be based on truth, on trust and on love."
But: that is not the reality. Our relationships are not based on truth or
on trust or on love.
We might trust someone, but he hurts us. We might give, but he takes and does
not want to give. People do not necessarily act truthfully. There are many
you cannot trust - not only those who are violent. There is a lot of crime that is
daily in our news, in our courts. There is all the fraud and and theft.
Things are even more difficult when we realize that sometimes not only those steal
who we expect to steal, but even those who seem to be reliable. What if reliability
is not widespread? What if everyone looks after his own interest first?

**Be on the watch ...**
Jesus does not ask us to be blind. We should realize that the world is as it
is - it is good to accept the facts. An important part of the insight is that
the world is not full of love and truth. Our structures and our behavior
needs to reflect this fact. People will continue to be egoistic. They will
try to take as much as they can. They will steal and will not be reliable.
We are asked to be careful and to be smart (Matthew 10, 16 ff). But there are
those who are different, those who follow the Lord. And there is the Lord with
his unlimited possibilities. In the community of believers we will find the
trust and help, which Jesus asks his disciples to live.
My own conclusion is that I really need to look towards the Lord. Only with
him I find complete trust. And in his company I find the strength to deal with the
more difficult features of our daily life, with the people who disappoint my
trust and with my own failures.
