======Arguments ...======
Tuesday, May 29, 2012. On Friday and Saturday last week I spent quite some
time in a large bookstore. It had several sections on faith and philosophy.
There was a section on "Christian insipration" - and also one on philosophy
with books against Christian faith. So I spent several hours looking
around and reading here and there ...

**Arguments for and against faith ...**
One book caught my attention. The author was strongly writing against faith.
He was strongly writing against the Christian God. He did not like the biblical
stories - but disliked both the Old and the New Testament. And the purpose
of his book was to summarise his arguments and thoughts.
It is interesting to start to think about arguments for and against faith. How
can you understand particular actions, events or commands in the bible? What
do they mean? How can you misunderstand them?
Sometimes we might think that there is a clean way of presenting the truth. But
putting all different types of arguments on the table might lead us into
a much deeper understanding of things. Arguments for and against faith might
help faith more than just putting all the pro-arguments ahead!

**Scripture and Arguments ...**
The bible brings a lot of arguments for faith. It is a big invitation to believe
in him. It is a book which writes about his people, about Abraham and Isaak and
Jacob, about Jesus and Paul and John. It is about very concrete people and
their faith, a book about history, about ideas, about life with all what it is.
Biblical arguments take place on many layers. It is not just our head. It is not
just our emotions. It is also our heart. It is the whole of our life. Biblical
arguments do not fear the counter arguments. They have the freedom to study and
consider what people might have to say against faith. And they have the power
and authority to overcome doubt.
Is God to be praised? He is, since he is just great! You can find many arguments:
look what he has made. Creation is amazing. All humans are fascinating beings.
We cannot claim we would fully understand his ways, though we might understand a lot
of it. Still, a lot is hidden from our eyes. But there are also fantastic
arguments to find in the biblical stories - let us study the scripture with
our whole life!
