======Be Relevant ...======
Monday, Sept 22, 2014. In a film recently we saw some people standing in front
of a grave - on one of the soldier graveyards with many hundreds of graves. They
thought about the purpose of life - and the purpose of death. Someone had given
his life, to protect others. He was killed in combat. What is it, that makes our
life purpose-full?

**Be relvant ...**
We often try to be relevant by the contributions, which we do. As businessmen, we
try to have great products. We try to earn a lot of money. Relevance here means to
be a leading manufacturer in the market. As manager, you want to be relevant by the
leadership you provide. You want to be good as head and leader, and be successful
with the targets you set and work towards.
As scientist, we want to be relevant by the ideas and results we publish. We want
to be leading by heaving good ideas first - and working them out in a way which is
useful to others. Relevance often is driven by success of some service or by
accomplishment.
Some people try to be relevant by the care they give to others. A young mother
will take care of her child with full commitment. That is what gives her life
purpose and value. Being there for others is an important way of being relevant
and full of purpose.

**The purpose of knowing God ...**
>
In the New Testament we learn about another type of purpose. We are not something
because we do. We are not something because we have. We are not something with a
purpose and a value because of our accomplishment. And it is not even the care
we provide to others which makes us valuable. We are valuable, because God gives
value to us. We are valuable because of what he puts in us. It is given to us as a gift, out of pure grace:
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,
(Eph 2, 8)
and
13 Follow the pattern of the sound words that you have heard from me, in the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.
14 By the Holy Spirit who dwells within us, guard the good deposit entrusted to you.
(2 Tim 1, 13-14)
Let us take more time to explore what makes our life relevant. It is an important
question, and it guides our decisions how to invest our time day by day! Let us
be very careful about it, and go into further depth ...
