Sometimes we need to wait. Things we would like to happen do not happen yet - and we cannot speed them up by our own activities. Then, waiting has no real alternative. {{2015_03_02.jpg }} **How to wait? ...** Waiting can be painful, if you wait for recovery from some illness. Waiting when you are stuck is not nice. Other types of waiting can be full of excitement, for example waiting for a child to be born. Nine month waiting time is a time of preparation and anticipation. How do we fill waiting time. Often, we are able to fill it, we are not completely paralysed during the waiting period. We can do something - even if we cannot speed up the event or state we are waiting for. Waiting time can be an intense time of preparation. It can be a time filled with good and reasonable work and activity. Waiting time can be good and necessary! Of course, we do not know the future. Often we do not know when things will come. Waiting can be a time of uncertainty, a time where we do not know what will be our way, what will be our fate! Here, we come to the question of faith, the question of trust, the question of our human life as a whole, with all its parts, its layers, its constituents. {{ 2015_03_02_2.jpg}} **Wait for the Lord ...** In Psalm 27 and many other psalms and biblical texts, waiting plays an important role. Please listen: I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living! 14 Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord! (Psalm 27, 13-14) Waiting for the Lord is a theme which is raised many times in the bible. The people of Israel have been waiting for the Messiah Jesus for many centuries! For God, waiting has a special meaning. Waiting is important. Waiting is indispensible, for many things. Why does God want us to wait for him? It is about our relationship to this world. It is about our whole life, how we do things, how we approach things, about treasures and ethics, about desires and fulfilment. Waiting is a time to rethink, who we are and who he is. Waiting is a time to change, not an empty time, but a time fully filled with transformation, with learning, with listening! Waiting is good, it is already part of the solution.
