What is the most you can gain in life? Is it success? Is it money? Is it friends? Is it a partner? What is it that brings fulfilment and happiness? What brings lasting joy? {{2015_06_11.jpg }} **Biblical Perspective ...** The above questions are quite personal. I would say, we all want acceptance and also some type of appreciation. But it will not bring us fulfilment. Then, there are skills and personal gifts. We all have our gifts, and when it comes to work, we all have different things which will satisfy us - it just depends on our personal skill set, on our character and also on our past and our choices! For example: my wife loves to talk to people. Talking and developing relationships is what satisfies her, what she loves, and what brings joy and fulfilment. For me, it is rather "building work". I love to go to some place or setting where some new things are needed, where building work is necessary. Then, I find my joy in starting to develop concepts. I love to try to solve problems, hard problems, difficult problems, unclear problems. When I know how it works, and when things start to evolve, my work is done. I do not find joy in administration. But I am also convinced that our skills alone will not bring us the peace and joy which we need as humans. We need more - another level or layer. We need God, the eternal God and father. We need a relationship to him, need to be filled by his spirit. We need this, since humans have been created to live with him, to be filled by him. Without him there will always be something empty deep inside of us. But when he fills it, we reach our destination. {{ 2015_06_11_2.jpg}} **Salvation ...** The bible calls this process "salvation" - when God comes into our life, when we find forgiveness and peace with him. In 1 Timothy, the apostle Paul writes about this: 1 First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, 2 for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. 3 This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time. (1 Tim 2, 1-6) The most you can gain in life is to live with the Lord, to be filled by him. And that is a great thing, a fantastic experience, again and again. His grace is new every morning, as if it had been created just a second ago, fresh and full of life! He is the creator, the origin, the beginning of all, and its end.
