Wonders and Resurrection II ...

Tuesday, March 22, 2016. The Resurrection is a wondrous event, which has challenged people ever since. Some accept it, some go against it. Yet, it is of a deep meaning which we might understand even if we have difficulties with believing the change of natural laws when Jesus was risen. It is about our life, about what we believe and what we want, about desires and the change in our motives and our habits!

Resurrection of our Life …

The bible teaches that humans who do not have Christ Jesus in their heart and their mind are dead. We are spiritually dead. We still live, but separated from the source of life, from the origin of life. We live - in some sense, but not the way we could and should. Not real life. We need salvation, we need resurrection.

The bible talks about the spirit. But it also talks about very practical things. It does not split or separate spiritual things from daily life. It means both at the same time. It means our motives, our actions, our words, our feelings, our will … all of it. It wants resurrection, and that means change of all! It means change of what is the center of our life. But it also means the change of all we do. Our words need to change, our attitude.

Sometimes we struggle with particular things. This is probably a good testing point for our faith life. I had a friend who struggles with the dishonesty of some parts of his professional environment. He feels hurt and treated in a very bad way, and he is upset. If he comes to honest moments, he admits that he is very very upset indeed. And there is huge danger to hurt others and to cause a lot of damage in a lying environment, where you cannot gain much by addressing things honestly. But there are other ways, there is a spiritual way!

Authority …

There is the way to take the authority which God gives his children - each and everyone who believe in him. We can let people go their way, and we can go the way of honesty and truth. We can stay pure, even if some do want to follow their lies. You do not have to fight, let God do the fight where you cannot gain anything. Just go your way calmly and full of the joy of the Lord. The apostles write a lot about the path of grace, for example in 2nd Corinthians:

7 But as you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in all earnestness, and in our love for you — see that you excel in this act of grace also. 8 I say this not as a command, but to prove by the earnestness of others that your love also is genuine. 9 For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich. (2 Cor 8, 7-9)

Following Christ is part of the resurrection for our own life. It is as if we would suddenly live! We live in his love, his grace, his perspective. We live in a relationship to the eternal God, the creator and source of all what is.

Resurrection and wonder do not start with big events, where natural laws are violated. That is not their core - it might be an effect which they have. But the core is faith, is trust, is the light of truth and love, which you find in father, son and holy spirit. Come and be a part of the resurrection! Come to Christ, and let us be glad.
