Wednesday, Oct 2, 2019. The reality of the biblical description and content is
astonishing. When you explore the Old and New Testament, you will find the topic of
young and old age, life and death, guilt and shame, hope and glory!

** What is Life? ... **

What is life? Humans have the ability, to define themselves. That is human: we have
our own mind, our own ideas. We define who we are. At the same time, we fail with this
task. We fail deeply.

What is important to you? Money? Acknowledgement? People? Fame? We have so many things
which fill our heart. Is it human to strive? What is it that gives us the satisfaction
we are searching for our life and our days? 

The New Testament considers Jesus as the key reference point of life. He is the
source of life in a particular and deep way. In the gospel of John this sounds as
follows:

13 Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, 14 but 
whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again.2 The water 
that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

** Coming to Jesus ... **

It is indeed interesting to observe: when you approach God, when you come to Jesus,
you find life in a way different from the results of pure human desire. 

The point is that we need God. We need the creator. We need the one who made us. 
We are created in his image. We are created to be with him. Without him, our soul
is lonely - even if we are surrounded by many humans. 

But when God's spirit comes into our life, our thirst for life is filled. Many 
things change. God's presence changes our insight, our mind, our feelings. Only with
him we can develop a proper understanding of life and death! 

Faith is a fantastic adventure. God is a fantastic God. His insight, his mercy,
his faithfulness, his power, ... there is so much to discover, so much to say, so
much to explore and to learn.
