Speak about the cross.

Good morning. Thursday, Jan 29, 2009. We are talking about the cross - the cross of Jesus Christ, where he died 2000 years ago. The thing with the cross is absolutely fascinating. Let me explain some experiences, some observations which are connected to the cross. Of course, the cross is difficult. Its not clear, its somehow fancy, strange, crazy and unbelievable. Today you are put into a a hospital for mental illnesses if you start to speak about the cross in a serious way. But we need to speak about this cross - as the Bible speaks about it. Let us understand the bible, this important book of world history!

So the observation is as follows. If people are really dedicated to the cross, the behave differently than other people. What doe that mean: being dedicated to the cross? It means that someone says: I give up my life - Jesus and his cross are taking over. I cannot be justified. He is paying for me. He really owns my life. I live in his grace. He loves me. He supports me. I do not have to bring anything - in fact I cannot bring anything. And after that people start to behave in different manner. They are able to forget themselves. They want to reach something which is beyong their personal egoism.

If people live up to the cross, they face many challenges. The others do not understand, they do not live in grace. They come with many demands, with requests and serious accusations. That is somehow the story of Jesus, who went first to the cross exactly in this mode of false accusations. The cross is a central point and experience in this world! [R.P., Reading, UK]
