How can I find God? ...

Friday, Feb 20, 2009. How can I find God? What is going on with this God Jesus and the Christians are talking about? Have you ever asked yourself this question? You might think: “There are people talking about God as if he was a person they know, someone living around the corner. That is quite strange. Most people I know do not think like that.” You might think that God, if he exists, must be quite far away, the great eternal mover, some deep force - but how can I get to know him like my neighbor or one of my friends?

You have a good question! How is God? Is it possible to get to know him, if he is alive? Reading the New Testament you will realize that Jesus is taking God quite serious. He is living with him - calls him his father and he is talking to God in a quite familial way. He believes that God is there any time. Often he spends some night in prayer. His whole life is based on God's purpose and mission. This Jesus of the New Testament, who has influenced so many people in world history, who has led to millions and billions of church members in christian churches worldwide and an unknown number of believers within all generations, … this Jesus had an intimate relationship to the God and Creator of the Universe. And he had the goal to reach the same for every human being on the planet. That was his great mission, the purpose of his life.

If we want to learn more about God we should study the life of Jesus, his words, his actions, the stories about him and his death at the cross. The promise is that he will identify himself, he will show himself to be alive, to be there even today through his holy spirit.
