Wednesday, Feb 25, 2009. Sometimes it seems that we cannot change our life! If we get into a steady state with fixed habits this is difficult to change. It can be very hard to get out of it - to change our environment or the things we have to do or do daily. We might feel stuck with particular things and in fact we might really be stuck with it. This is like the good tasks for the new year. Usually we do not carry them out - latest at the end of January we are back to our behavior as before. It is the same as with the task of loosing weight. We try hard for a week - and the weight comes back in the days after that. It is the old experience of empty promises, the old image of the prison of bad habits.

Change does not necessarily need to be positive. If things are good, we should not change them. Change has dangers and risks. We might end up worse than before. Some people fear risks and so just stay in a medium state without trying to improve.

But change is possible. Change can happen! In fact, Jesus wants clear change for our life, every day a little change - and some days radical change. He does not want change for change's sake, but he has clear goals. He wants God's love and grace and mercy to take over. He wants truth and patience and friendship to be powerful and determine our days. Change here is like an arrow pointing to God's kingdom! This change is good, it is worth the risk!
