Monday, April 6, 2009. The Easter holiday is there. Our children are at home now - and the rhythm of life is changing immediately. We do not have to get up early such that everyone can be at school in time. There is only one person, who is still working, which is myself. But I will go into some days of holiday soon as well.

One could think that holidays give us a lot of more time to think about life or to pray or to talk to God, to read books about faith or to study the bible. But my observation is that this is not the case. The time I have for God is completely independent of the circumstances - it is depending on other things. I can be extremely busy and still find time for God. I can have all free time of the world and still it does not work with prayer time or study time.

What is it that keeps us away from the Lord? What is it that makes it so difficult to sit down and pray? Why do we not just talk to the God of the Universe, just right now or perhaps in some minutes when we quickly found a quiet place? Prayer can be so easy and the New Testament makes it absolutely clear that God waits for us to come to him, all the time!

It is our heart which is drawn to many things. We are surrounded by attractions which want to keep us from the essentials. We are sidetracked by fears and worries. But God can help us to see through all these things. We only need to start to pray. These are little decisions with large effects. Just two minutes focusing on Jesus might change our whole day. This is true for days of work and holidays in the same way! Whenever we turn to him, he is there with his spirit, with his possibilities and new options! [R.W.E.P., jesusnetwork.eu]
