Holiday 1 - Gone for a while ...

Tuesday, July 20, 2010. I am gone for a while, see you three weeks from now … Holiday can be fantastic. We go for a while to the south … to some Greek island or to Spain. For people living in the northern part of Europe that is a wonderful idea, since we usually miss the sun and hot days at the beach.

Workaholics

For those of us who have a lot to do usually with various responsibilities, going away for a while might be something difficult. If you are responsible for something, it is difficult to let it go. Often, many things can happen and it is not completely clear who will take care. There might be significant damage to a project or to the whole company if you are not there all the time!

For little workaholics letting work go is something we need to work on. After years of intense work, of intense responsibility, of intense daily “taking care of”, it might be even natural that it is difficult to let things go. I have seen people quitting their jobs completely, just because they never had the chance to let things go and get into a creative mode, where they could just freely study and work on things.

Holiday can challenge the workaholics among us. It can challenge our attitude towards life. It can challenge our tasks and our focus. Life is more than work. Life is more than goals. Life is a gift of the eternal Lord, a gift of the creator, who wants us to enjoy his fantastic gift and who wants to enjoy our life as well.

A gift by the Creator

Let us realize and appreciate the gift God has given to each of us. We all have life, we all have a fantastic and wonderful body. We all have a mind and emotions. We all are in charge of something fantastic: of our own body and mind.

We can take this year's holiday, to start a new type of life. We can start a life which is fully aware of the wonders of ourselves and of this world. Every structure, every rock, everything physical is a wonder by itself. All animals and humans - wonder over wonder. They might be a little distorted sometimes, just focusing on themselves or on some particular goals. But they are still fantastic and breathtaking.

You are a gift given to yourself by the creator. You are a gift given to the world, to the people around you. Be yourself, be this gift. Take a holiday to be what you are. ... more texts
