God's immense favour II ...

Friday, Oct 22, 2010. God gives immense favour to us through Jesus … Paul writes this in his letter to the Ephesians, we have read it yesterday. Are we clear about what that means? Do we know God? Do we know his immense favour?

The meaning of favour or grace …

Let us just recall the key sentence:

3 May our Father God and Jesus Christ our master be honoured, because they have given us immense favour through Jesus - every possible favour in the spiritual realm in heaven.

We used the word “favour” here. Other translations speak of “grace”. It means that God gives something which is not paid or earned. He just does it. He loves and love gives things without expecting payment, … just out of love!

God is a God which is full of favour, full of love. The apostle John calls him even “the love”. God is so different from what we are often used in this world that we may have difficulties to understand. He wants us to live. He wants good things for us. He wants us to be full of truth and love as well, full of wisdom. He is reliable and trustworthy ….

Where are you? …

Do we understand God? Do we know him? Maybe we will never fully get to know him here on earth, since we continue to live in an environment, which likes lies more than truth, which likes to pretend more than to be honest. It wants to sell and to earn, not to work and to give for the others. We are all educated within such an environment. But God is love …!

Where am I in all of this? Where are you? Have you already started to get to know the eternal God and saviour? He lives. He is present. He speaks today through the ancient words of the bible as well as through his spirit, often when we read biblical texts, but also in sessions of prayers. Do you live in the presence of the Lord every day?

Ephesians puts a lot of things into our life. We just need to listen carefully. Every word here as deep meaning. Every sentence has a story to tell. The words of the apostle Paul have been written driven by the Holy Spirit, who wants to be with us today and tomorrow. ... more texts
