New Insight is Possible ...

Christians have been celebrating Christmas now for nearly 1700 years, since Christianity was officially accepted by the emperor Konstantin in the Roman empire. Is everything known? Nothing new under the sun? Is Christmas just the old routine, … or is new insight possible?

New insight for me …

Over the last days I realized that for me, personally, there is new insight possible. I can tell several things where I really thought that my view of the world is a little incomplete, that I have to think about the overall setup of the world.

One of these moments was on Sunday, during the sermon. Yes, I think that we can learn from sermons (maybe not from every single of them, but God wants to speak through the pastors and preachers, and he in fact does)! In that sermon the pastor spoke about the angels which cam to Mary when the birth of Jesus was announced. I started to think about angels and about God's presence and God's power.

You need to know that I am a scientist. I know physics and mathematics insight out, with many applications. But I also know that there is another dimension, and I know the unbelievable power of the creator. In the time after the sermon I thought about angels. There have always been angels in biblical times. They looked like ordinary humans, partly. I wonder whether we still have many angels in our world today, but since we do not believe and do not count on God's power, we never realize what is around us. But some people, who believe in God's possibilities, do! It might be a new and important step for me personally, to start to discover God's presence and God's possibilities in the world around me.

Longing for a meaningful world …

I think that we all long for a meaningful world. We all long for purpose, for a framework of our life which puts us into a well-set frame. The question is: does this frame exist? If yes, how exactly is it? What are its properties? Is it God, who provides the framework? What type of God?

Jesus has given answers to all these questions. He himself, as a person, wants to be the proof that God exists. He is this God, coming to us. How exactly is God? We can study Jesus. We can look at him. We can get to know him - many of his words are recorded in the bible and in prayer times today he can and will answer when we address him sincerely.

The God who is the eternal God is truely great. That is quite good news, it could be different! Think of a world where the creater is a despot, where the eternal God is a suppressor. But he is not. He is in fact a loving father, a saviour, a friend. There is joy in Christmas, Christians sind their Halleluja from heart, since God is wonderful, good news! ... more texts
