I am tired ...

Thursday, June 14, 2012. Is faith something for those who behave well? Is it something for those who are full of virtue, who have their life under control? What about the tired ones, what about those who do not manage to get things done? For whom is faith? …

Reaching my limits …

For everyone there are times, when you reach your limits. Perhaps you worked hard. You tried hard. You did a lot, you spent day and night to prepare for some exam. And now you are just tired. Exam is done, perhaps you did well, perhaps you failed. But after all the work, there is a time where you realize that you need a real break, that it cannot continue like that!

Life can lead us to many situations where we realize that we are at the end with our power and motivation. We cannot just go on, we do not have enough strength to move forward. It is a very human experience, and even if you are gifted with a lot of talents and strength, you WILL reach that point, where your strength is not sufficient any more.

Sometimes, there is the desire in us, to rest. We have the desire that things work out without us fighting for them. We wish to be in a calm and peaceful environment, where we are well set and where we get everything we need. There are times where we are just tired, where we need to rest, need to sleep and need to be cared for by someone who is there for us.

Jesus calls those who are struggling …

The New Testament is called “good news”. This is true in particular for those who are struggling. Jesus is calling those, who struggle. He is calling those, who are tired. He is calling those, who do not manage to get their life under control. He is there for those who are poor. Come - is the word which he is saying. Come, I will refresh you and give you peace!

Sometimes Christianity is criticized as a fake medicine for those who are weak. Philosophers have raised their voice to call it even a tranquillizer. But honestly, these people did not understand what the message is about. It is a message about coming home - not to a fake home, but to the real home. It is a message to come to the Lord, the first and the last, and find his peace today in our heart and mind.

God is not dependent on our strength. He has strength enough, for him and for us. He can help us, even when we sleep. He wants us to turn to him, and then let HIM do what is needed for us. When we struggle it is a key step to learn to turn to him and to let him take care of us. He helps us to do the right steps. And he provides the rest and support which we need.
