A normal life ...

Tuesday, Aug 7, 2012. In times where only the “great” seems to have some value, it is good to talk about how God sees our life. For him, every human has a large value. He does not make differences between us the way we humans often do.

Make yourself useful …

The apostles tell us to go and lead a still life. To work for our living. To be there for one another. To pray and to enjoy what the Lord gives to us day by day. Paul tells us to live a life full of the spririt of Jesus, godly and dignified in any way (see 1 Timothy, 2,2 and 1 Thessalonians 4,11).

“9 Now about brotherly love we do not need to write to you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love each other. 10 And in fact, you do love all the brothers throughout Macedonia. Yet we urge you, brothers, to do so more and more.

11 Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your hands, just as we told you, 12 so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.” (1 Thessalonians, 4)

The normal life, which lives godly and holy, is the great life. To be normal, to be among others, with others and support others is what God sets as our standard.

Good to have you here! …

It should be one of our main concern, to generate an environment where everyone has a good life. We need to generate an environment, where everyone is well. Where everyone has a place to stay, has sufficient food and clothing. We need everyone to have work, to be useful for his own life and for others. We need an environment where we can say fully by heart: good to have you here!

We just heard from a German actor who dies at the age of 42, after she had difficulties over difficulties with the early success of her career. She tried to become normal, tried to have a quiet life where she could go somewhere and would not be recognized as the famous one. It can be extremely difficult, if you cannot find back into a normal state of life.

The normal life is there to be a life with God, to live with him and be guided by him. It is the exciting life, not distracted by things which keep you away from his wonderful way to go through this world, this life, this time! (Roland Potthast) ... more texts
