The larger picture ...

Thursday, Aug 16, 2012. Talking about healing … it is of course good to be healed. When we are ill, we want to be healed. We want to be healthy. We long to be able to lead our life in a way where we can develop all our capabilities and talents and live them!

The framework of our life …

Why do we want to be healed. What is the goal for our healing? What type of life do we want to be healed for? We need to answer some deeper questions. We need to look at the complete framework of our life.

Sometimes it is not so clear that we have a good and sustainable image of the life we want to lead when we are healthy. Some illness seems to be a tool for us to get something - there is no other concept of how we would get that without the illness. There are role models which tempt us into being ill …

Do we have a concept of a healthy life? I mean a life which is healthy in body and soul. Do we have a concept of a healthy life which includes our goals, our habits, our relationships, our decisions, what we eat, what we wear, what we try and what we decide not to try?

God as center …

The biblical books offer us a picture of a life which is sustainable and well balanced. They put God into the center of our life. They sort our activities with him in the middle, with his holy character, with his truth, his justice, his love and his trust in us.

There is this invitation to have God in our heart - and then carry out our decisions with his view onto things and into things. There are deep opportunities, waiting for us today to be discovered. He wants us to see his possibilities in our day, in our life. He wants to resolve our challenges, wants to help us with those points which cause trouble for us.

When you discover what God can do and who he is in the middle of your trouble, you will be amazed. “That is fantastic”. “That is nearly unbelievable”. “Can that be true?” … Yes, it is “good news”, the gospel of Jesus Christ, of “God with us!” (Roland Potthast) ... more texts
