God helps with money ...

Friday, Nov 23, 2012. How do we manage money? How do we manage to get enough money to pay what we need to pay? We might be in need. We might be short of money. What can we do?

God helps …

The bible is not focused on money. There are much more important things. Forgiveness, justice and trustworthiness is of much larger value than some possessions. But still, there are promises in the biblical texts that God knows our needs and that he provides, what we need.

Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who finds great delight in his commands. 2 His children will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed. 3 Wealth and riches are in his house, and his righteousness endures forever. 4 Even in darkness light dawns for the upright, for the gracious and compassionate and righteous man. 5 Good will come to him who is generous and lends freely, who conducts his affairs with justice. (Psalm 112)

Many parts of the Old Testament confirm that God supports justice. He helps those, who are righteous. He helps and sustains. Those, who follow the path of righteousness, will flourish. The meek will inherit the earth! (Matthew 5:5)

How does it fit together? …

The bible knows the power of the Lord. He is able to help in many ways. He is able to help you with your finances. Often, churches today are supported by dedicated members, who give a tenth of their income to the church (and related charities).

One common experience is, that giving this money is strongly blessed. When you give, money comes back. You are supported in nearly mysterious ways. You get help here … you get additional income there … it seems that God silently gives the money back to you. But all this is based on faith, based on trust.

Trust needs you to give and to receive. Trust needs you to give away what you have, to God and to the others. And you will experience his might. He can help you in so many ways, he can even turn difficulties into blessings. He will not let you down. (Roland Potthast) ... more texts
