Fruits of the Spirit ...

Monday, Feb 10, 2014. What is influencing your mind and your heart? What is it that is developing in your heart, what feeling, what type of atmosphere?

Spirit Come! …

The bible promises that when the Holy Spirit comes into our mind and into our heart, there will be fruits developing which are good, which are fantastic! We read about them for example in Galatians 5:

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. (Gal 5, 22-23)

The apostle Paul describes what happens when the spirit of the Lord comes and gains influence. We will experience this love, this peace, this patience. We will find that he is good indeed.

Sometimes, we find ourselves in a circle of depression and of challenges. For example, when you have people who do not support you, but try to get rid of you. When you face people who try to let your activities run vain and try to send you to the sideline. When you are hurt and sad and demotivated. Then, you need the support of the Holy Spirit, then you need kindness and goodness, as God has it for us!

Reality and Experiences …

The Holy Spirit is a reality. It is there for us. When we go to the Lord in prayer, we can experience his presence. And we can find the things which are promised as fruits of the spirit. We can find joy. We can find peace. We can find patience.

In a recent prayer session I found exactly this: real progress with my sad mood. That is possible, when you believe the Lord. That is possible when you come to his mercy and goodness. It is possible, it happens, his power is not far from us, not far from our heart!

I strongly hope and pray that you will find the same experience when you approach God in prayer, when you approach Christ Jesus in your own personal prayer time. His goodness is fantastic. His love is everlasting. His kindness and faithfulness will not let us down. He is the living God, the living Lord. (Roland Potthast) ... more texts
