A Strange World ...
Tuesday, March 31, 2015. We live in a fantastic and strange world. I have been in a big science museum at the weekend - browsing through the introductions and visualizations of nature and science on various levels. What a fantastic world we live in! From genetics to the human psychological disposition, from quantum theory to space crafts.
Fantastic Nature, Science, Music, Philosophy …
It is quite fantastic, when you travel around the world, to have breakfast in Shanghai, Dinner in London (with seven hours time delay), and then back to Germany the next morning. Planes go around 10.000 meters above the ground at a speed which is 80% of the speed of sound. It is amazing to see the clouds from above, the rivers, the landscapes, mountains and deserts!
Our microscopic and macroscopic world is great. And beautiful humans everywhere. In our big towns there are so many people on Saturday afternoon, shopping and enjoying free time. I sat in a Beer garden in Shanghai on Saturday - with people from all the world around me - most of them Chineese, of course.
Shanghai science museum tries to introduce different sciences and layers of human knowledge. Listening to an introduction of quantum mechanics was great, reminding me of what I learned during studies, and leading me to amazement about how strange and unusual our nature is if we go below our ordinary environment. Yet, all this is today part of our day-to-day life, since we use materials and services which would not be possible without scientific breakthroughs from the last 100 years!
