The Lord hears ...

Wednesday, May 13, 2015. It is good to have friends, which listen to you. It is good when you find people, you are willing to listen to what troubles you, who are willing to invest time and effort to be there, help you, think and possibly solve the problems. That is great!

Friends and Responsible People …

It is good when you have personal friends who are there with you. Not always and not in each phase of our life such friends will be around. Many of us have experienced these times of loneliness, where friendship seems far and unreachable. And yet, we also saw the change coming, and good friends arising.

It can also be fantastic to have someone in your institute or organization, who is willing to listen to your problems. It is so good, when you have at least the possibility to put all trouble on the table and start some conversation about what steps are reasonable and what steps will help us to move forward.

But there is much more in life than friends and mentors. There is God, the Lord, with his Holy Spirit. We are able to approach him - in faith. God wants to listen. We are asked to pray. We are asked to come to him, and to bring our trouble with us. He wants to be with us. He wants to guide us. And he wants to actively help us with all our problems.

The Lord hears when I call to him …

1 To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments. A Psalm of David. Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have given me relief when I was in distress. Be gracious to me and hear my prayer! 2 O men, how long shall my honor be turned into shame? How long will you love vain words and seek after lies? 3 But know that the Lord has set apart the godly for himself; the Lord hears when I call to him. 4 Be angry, and do not sin; ponder in your own hearts on your beds, and be silent. 5 Offer right sacrifices, and put your trust in the Lord. 6 There are many who say, “Who will show us some good? Lift up the light of your face upon us, O Lord!” 7 You have put more joy in my heart than they have when their grain and wine abound. 8 In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety. (Psalm 4)

David has experienced the help of the Lord. He has found out, by prayer and by putting his full trust in the Lord, that God is real. He has gained far reaching insight into who the eternal God is, and what he wants. Nearly 3000 years has passed since then, and still we are inspired by what David wrote during his lifetime. God stays the same, yesterday, today and tomorrow. He is now there for you and for me, to be the God of our life. What a fantastic chance and perspective! (RWEP) ... more texts
