On a good way ...

Friday, Oct 23, 2015. Is it possible to be on a good way? It is! Is it possible to do good? It is. It does not mean that you would not make mistakes. It does not mean all you do would be perfect. But it means that you want to go the way of the Lord, and that you do your best to follow his path. It means that you keep an open ear, to learn from him, every single day of your life.

Opens my ears …

In the book of Isaiah, chapter 50, we find words about this path of the Lord. It is a great path. When we follow him, our life is filled by his mercy and his passion. Therefore, let us listen, and let us learn:

4 The Sovereign Lord has given me a well-instructed tongue, to know the word that sustains the weary. He wakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being instructed. 5 The Sovereign Lord has opened my ears; I have not been rebellious, I have not turned away. 6 I offered my back to those who beat me, my cheeks to those who pulled out my beard; I did not hide my face from mocking and spitting. 7 Because the Sovereign Lord helps me, I will not be disgraced. Therefore have I set my face like flint, and I know I will not be put to shame. (Isaiah 50, 4-7)

There is much to say about the path of the Lord. It is about reality. It is about life. It is about truth and love. It is about obedience, about the ability to listen to the truth, to live in the light. We all can learn a lot here. And we all can find great joy, the better we follow, and the more his grace fills our heart!

Path of the Lord …

The prophet Isaiah talks about skills which are worth more than gold. To be able to talk to comfort people, to lead and to guide, to generate truth and joy, but also to identify problems, is of deep value. A word to motivate, to fill, to help - what a gift and blessing!

To have an ear to hear, to listen to the Lord, is of similar quality. How could you talk and lead, if you would not be able to listen? We all tend to be rebellious, we have our desires, and we tend to loose track of the full picture of reality. We sell our life for a lentil dish. But when the Lord gives us open ears to listen, and a heart to follow, we can avoid destruction, we can find grace. “I have not turned away” is a far reaching sentence, spoken by one of the great prophets of the Old Testament.

The following sentences fully clarify that the prophet speaks about more than himself alone. We hear words, which could be Jesus' words, all this sounds like the New Testament. We are taken into the story of Jesus. We are taken into the story which will change the world, the story of the suffering servant, who keeps love and faith, and who will not be disgraced, but will live and reign forever. ... more texts
