An open journey.

Good morning. Wednesday, Jan 14, 2008. Life is a journey with God. It is an open journey. Things are not completely under control. We might ask why life is so insecure. Why is is so difficult to foresee or influence the future? Many have tried to predict what will happen. Sometimes one of the predictions is correct, but most of them are just wrong. It does not work like that!

Is God controlling the world? Does he know everything ahead? The bible is quite clear that God is in control. Nothing can happen without him letting it happen. If he does not want things to become reality, they will not become real! But on the other hand the bible also tells us that humans can influence history - with or without God. Humans act and make decisions. We strongly influence other people. By what we say we create happiness or pain. By what we do we kill or give life. Yes, history is quite open to human actions.

The freedom of choice and will is one of the old philosophical questions. It is one of our millennium problems in physics, medicine and science of cognition. It is interesting that the bible has its own concept of free will as well as the boundedness of the human mind, which is quite modern. Open questions whereever we turn! [R.P., Reading, UK]
