God's power and God's weekness.

Good morning. Monday, Feb 9, 2009. What about the frustrations of faith? If you believe in God, in Jesus Christ, if you follow the Holy One - does that mean that your life will go smoothly? What can you expect? What does God want? What does he promise? What is going to happen to you if you believe in Jesus? If Jesus is the Lord of the earth, the almighty, the one who has been given all authority over everything - how will he help you? How will this influence your life, your fate, your success and failures?

Christian faith has an extremely fascinating tension between Gods power and Gods weakness. God has all the power, but he chose not to use it to destroy the earth. He chose not to show off strongly to convince people that they should believe in him. He might have shown his power occasionally during history. But most of the time he stayed rather hidden - a God who showed himself more in the love and justice of the powerless than in brilliant victories!

At some point I started to ask questions to understand this point more clearly. That was not an easy task! Why did God not help me or others more with his powers. It is an old questions. You will definitely ask this question when you pray for an important task in your life and it just does not happen. Dark hours are bound to come for any one of us! But he will help us through them. Our faith has to show itself in the ordinary life to be recognized as sincere, as genuine. There are many possibilities in every day, many chances to find Gods presence around us!
