Tuesday, March 17, 2009. What is God's love? Does this ring a bell with you? Do you know what his love is about? “Good question” … I would have said 25 years ago - “I do not have a clue! If God is just love - why not call it love from the beginning and forget the stuff about God. Let's just talk about a society which has loving relations between people. Would that not be a better vision than “God's love”?”

The key problem with this love vision without God is that is does not work. The vision of a society of loving individuals is just as unreal as it could be. Our society is much more based on competition and ignorance than on anything else. What is love? Is it more than a different form of egoism - where we want something nice for ourselves? What would be a basis for love which is more than that?

Love does make sense only if there is a foundation for true love. True love means: not putting myself into the center - but rather forgetting myself when thinking about the other person. True love is a state of being. Love is some state of existence which I can enter. It receives its foundation from God himself. God is this love, and God is the foundation of all what exists. Hence, true love has an origin and goal. True love only makes sense when we talk about God and his reality at the same time!
