Tuesday, March 24, 2009. Christians do have a vision for society. The message Jesus has planted into the hearts and minds of his people lives on. It is changing our minds and hearts again today. It is changing society. It is a vision of fair chances, a vision of acceptance, of truth and justice. It is a vision of a reasonable life for every person, of joint efforts to tackle problems and of mutual help and support for every single member of the community. It is a vision of individuals being cared for, but also of healing, of change, of personal challenges.

Jesus vision for our life is much larger than any just social ideal could be. He has the vision to base the actions of men and women on a healthy relationship towards the creator and God of the universe. He has the vision to lead us into God's love, into grace, mercy, forgiveness, wisdom, truth, friendship, brotherhood.

We live in a world with many problems. It would be natural to some extent if everyone just tried to save himself. We have an impulse and will to survive, to protect us. But Jesus has a larger view, a better vision. He does not want to loose many, not even one. His vision includes sustainability within a rapidly evolving human society.
