Suffering 4 - Healing ...

Thursday, June 10, 2010. We have talked about the origin of suffering. We have talked about the role of suffering, what suffering means. We can cause suffering and others can make us suffer. But often its meaning is independent of our particular actions. We do not have a particular guilt when we are suffering. Suffering is a sign of the state of the world.

But suffering is not the end!

Not the end

God wants us to be healed from all suffering. He wants our mind and our soul to be healed. He wants our body to be healed and to stay fully healthy. He wants us to live.

The New Testament tells the story of Jesus, the son of God. In Jesus God comes into this world. He suffers with this world, he is even killed by the people in this world. He bears our suffering. He takes part. And in all of this he remains faithful to his father in heaven. He remains just. He lives a life which keeps the original trust which fits God's character and God's existence. Within this creation, Jesus lives the life which God wanted all of us to live.

The story of Jesus is a story of reconciliation. God and mankind are reconciled. It is a story of healing, the healing of our soul, the healing of our mind, the healing of our life, the healing of our bodies as well - the New Testament is full of healing stories.

Be Healed and help healing

God wants us to join Jesus in the original trust. That is called faith. Believe in Jesus and believe in the father in heaven. Trust him. Live with him. Let him fill your heart and your mind.

The healing which Jesus came to bring starts with a healing of our soul. We will be healed when we realize his love to us. We are healed when we start to trust him, start to love him, start to see that we are worth more than a world, everyone of us.

God in Jesus can heal soul and body. Jesus told many people: your sins are forgiven. Then he healed them. The healing of the soul came first, then the healing of the body. I believe that Jesus can heal today, and that he heals today. Not everyone will experience this healing during our lifetime here on earth. Some of us will have to wait, until his kingdom is complete. We still live in a fallen creation. But his power is working on the reconciliation of the whole creation.

Healing is at hand. Take part in his healing. God wants us to heal as well, he wants us to be “in Christ” and invite others to the healing he brings. And we are asked to pray for healing for the people around us, healing of the soul and healing of the body. In his presence healing is at hand. ... more texts
