Ideas for us 3 - Stay Calm and Find Solutions ...

Friday, August 27, 2010. We continue with “ideas for us”, ideas for our modern world, ideas where we should go, what we could or should do. Ideas which can shape our world since they attract humans and help to further develop society.

But we will also ask what God thinks about our ideas. We ask what he wants, what he tells us about our ideas and our goals. We want to ask him to tell us his goals and to guide us to a deeper understanding of the world we live in.

How to stay calm and find solutions? …

How do we develop habits to stay calm and keep our head above the water in the discussions and struggle of our time? When another crisis hits us, when we are drawn into financial struggle, when we face accidents, floods or other severe problems on a national or personal scale, … how do we manage all this?

Catastrophes can happen on various levels. It can be catastrophic for us when we loose our job or when things do not work out at all, with a lot of trouble at our workplace or our family. How do we cope with this? What is our way to deal with it?

Do you sometimes dream of staying calm and just finding solutions? Do you dream of being a person who takes what ever comes and is able to handle it - mentally and emotionally, physically and with your decisions, will and actions?

Adopt HIS view …!

The biblical invitation to us is to “walk with the Lord”. This is much more than just a walk with another person. The idea of the New Testament is deeper. The Holy Spirit is coming into our mind and our heart. God himself is coming to us and starting to live with us. When this happens, we start to see the world with his eyes. We start to live from and with and in his spirit.

The biblical invitation, when it is accepted and practiced, will change our life and through that our world. First of all, it will change our view towards people and on things. We start to adopt HIS view. His view is much larger, much broader, much deeper and much calmer than our view. Sometimes his view is much more furious than ours, since he does not accept injustice or wrong pride.

Can a person live in the spirit of the Lord? It is definitely an adventure, to start to live with him. It might never be done, in our life on earth we cannot become full masters of this life, but we can start and we can grow in it. In his spirit we can stay calm in the times of trouble, and we can find solutions!

Can a society be influenced by the Lord and his spirit, by father, son and holy spirit - this unity of God, Jesus and spirit which is active in the New Testament? Yes, it can. Mercy can come and justice can gain victory. Gentleness has the chance to succeed. Society can develop on a local, regional and national scale. The biblical agenda is very political. It is not political in the way that it would try to impose a particular program onto people. But its agenda is changing our hearts and our hearts will change the world we live in! ... more texts
